Events revised Update
JULY 2020

SICA Events Update – July 17, 2020

Ontario has officially moved to phase 3 of the re-opening process.  With this comes the ability for people to gather in larger numbers - up to 50 indoors and 100 outdoors.  While this is exciting news, it comes with the requirement that physical distancing regulations be maintained at all times.

It is with this information that we will aim to safely offer the following events:

  • Book Launch - “Free of Incurable Cancer: Living in Overtime” Author: Susan Paton. July 26th 2-4pm Hosted by Baraka Books, Robin Philpot publisher at the Philpot camp.  Silver Islet promotional price: $15

  • Fish Derby - August 7th & 8th - watch for signs & details

  • Tennis Tournament - those interested can sign-up at the tennis court and if there is enough interest, a tournament will be organized.

PLEASE NOTE:  SICA AGM has been postponed until September 5 with September 6 as rain date. This AGM will be held outdoors with chairs spaced to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Requesting that only one attendee per voting membership/household attend.

The SICA Executive reviewed the online survey results regarding member  feedback on summer events.  There were 30 respondents, and while opinions were varied, the majority felt that our facilities should be open to our members, and that vigilance would be required in terms of sanitization and physical distancing at our shared spaces (swimming area, pavilion, tennis and basketball courts).

Many survey respondents suggested a cleaning schedule for our swimming area (washrooms and high-touch areas).

As of Saturday July 18th, the facilities at the swimming beach will be open and cleaned as per the following schedule.

  • 9:00am - one washroom and one changeroom cleaned and open for use.  Swim ladders and tennis court door sanitized.
  • Mid-day - washroom and high-touch surfaces sanitized.
  • 8:00pm - washroom and changeroom closed.

We ask that anyone choosing to visit our facilities to please practice physical distancing to help keep our community safe.
